Meet Russell

First and foremost, I’m a huge music fan—I always have been. Growing up in a house filled with a vast record collection and musician parents, beautiful tunes were always filling the air. I developed a deep appreciation for all genres at a very early age, and my passion only grew as I got older.

As a teenager and young adult, I went to LOTS of concerts. I was captivated by the energy and the spectacle of live performances. I attended shows everywhere, from tiny clubs to massive music festivals, and I loved it all. Rock, punk, metal, electronica, jazz, and many more styles surrounded me, and I couldn’t get enough.

My deep love for performance led me to learn multiple instruments and play in numerous bands. As a musician, I learned to listen differently. I developed the ability to hear each instrument individually and understand what it contributed to the composition. Little did I know how useful that skill would become.

I knew early on that I wanted to work in the music industry. My journey began in the ’90s when I landed an internship at a recording studio. My drive to learn quickly led to numerous promotions, and within my first year, I was already engineering albums.

Studio work is a unique art, and I enjoyed it thoroughly, but the fire for live events still burned inside me. When a friend asked me to handle sound for his band at a venue, I couldn’t pass up the chance to try something new. There it was—the energy and excitement of the live show—but this time, it felt different. I was in control, making the decisions on how the mix came together.

I was hooked.

I shifted my focus from the studio world to live events. My love of music evolved into an ability to critically listen to each performance and make mixing decisions that served the music. It didn’t matter what genre I was working with—country, rock, jazz, big band, gospel, R&B, rap, metal, or anything else—I intuitively knew what it should sound like. I used my ears to deliver the experience the audience expected.

Today, my passion hasn’t faded a bit. I still get excited to work with my clients to build production solutions that exceed their expectations. I want them to feel the same energy and excitement that I feel attending concerts.

Every time my team is running a show, I love watching the crowd. When I see happy, smiling faces everywhere, I know we’re doing it right. That’s what I love. That’s why I’m here.
